The Boulder Public Libraries has released the official rules for what types of books can be on the shelves.
The library has added a new policy for the public library’s book collection.
The new policy, announced Monday, will allow anyone to purchase books from the library if they have an account, have a library card, and the book is not on the list of banned books.
The new policy also allows for the library to provide free books to those who have paid for them.
Boulder Public Library officials say the new policy is in response to a recent uptick in books that were deemed too violent, sexual, or otherwise inappropriate for library patrons.
